weefsel
A complete undyed linen cloth that retains its original vertical edges (known as selvedges) as well as the starting and ending borders with warp (vertical) fringe. Other elements of the textile include monochromatic woven stripes at both ends near the fringes. These monochromatic patterns are known as "self-bands" and may have served as weaver's marks.
